Massages are a maintenance that’s often seen as a luxury. Luxuries can get expensive and most times, we choose to opt-out of the extra cost. However, I’ve found that massages can be related to the look, feel, and overall appearance of our bodies. Appearance is the first thing someone sees when they look at us and with our female aesthetic, it’s important to everyday living. I still remember the first time I scheduled my very first massage.

When we’re stressed it shows in our appearance and affects the way we feel internally.

At the time, I was a bit stressed from issues in my personal life and under a lot of pressure. Prior to my appointment, I decided to educate myself about the health benefits of receiving a massage. All the benefits led to a healthier and more fulfilling lifestyle. I’ll never forget the feeling I had right after the massage. I was rejuvenated, joyous, and feeling like I was ready to take on the world! It wasn’t too long before I allowed the sales person to convince me to sign up for a recurring appointment, every month, which included a membership.

The benefits of receiving a good massage warrants a very long list. To help you understand why you may need a masseuse and how it relates to your appearance, I’ve put together a list of my top 3 reasons to understanding the effects of how it can improve your everyday life.

1. Massages decrease stress and anxiety

When we’re stressed, it shows in our appearance and affects the way we feel internally. The goal in life is to look good and feel good, at all times, However, sometimes that may not always be the case, but we can surely strive for it. To improve our physical and psychological state, it’s best to start off with a simple 15-minute massage. This can help you live your best life (if you’re not doing so already).

Some great 15-minute massages to start off with, are a table or chair massage. Since its only 15 minutes, it’s better to focus on one specific area of the body, such as: the neck, face, lower back, or even just your feet. This type of massage does not need to be done by a professional. It can be performed by a spouse or close friend. Another form of treatment includes self-treatment. Don’t be afraid to massage your own shoulders or head. Give yourself a head massage if you may be experiencing a headache or even a shoulder massage if your shoulders feel tight from a long day of work.

2. Massages Help you sleep better

Lack of sleep causes your blood vessel to dilate, leading to dark circles around the eyes and bags under the eyes. To improve better sleep habits, masseuse recommend a slow and gentle yet firm massage before going to bed. Another side effect of less sleep includes dehydration in the body, causing your pH levels to drop significantly. Low pH levels can trigger breakouts on your face and take away from the radiance of your look.

3. Massages Lower blood pressure

According to the American Heart Association the effects of high blood pressure can cause a lot of health issues, including: vision loss, heart failure, sexual dysfunction, just to name a few. Health issues can often lead to low self-esteem and a lack of confidence. Massages improve circulation in the body, which helps the blood flow properly and is related to lowering blood pressure. Elevated blood pressure also causes premature aging. Premature aging includes wrinkles in the face and saggy skin.

Ladies I highly recommend scheduling your first massage at your earliest convenience. Below are a few places I recommend:

Massage Heights

Massage Envy

Elements Massage

The list above includes mostly chains, because they are well established and have a great name, with proven results.

However, I do understand that massages can sometimes be expensive. If you’re on a budget or if it’s your first time, and you would like to test the waters before investing heavily in a massage, I recommend searching for a deal on Groupon. Locate a massage therapist in your area nearby.
